Garam Masala Chaana chaat

Scroll  down for english translation

Ingredienser:

440 gr kogte kikærter
350 gr kogte kartoffler, skråret i tern.
2 spsk olie
1 spsk frisk grofthakket koriander.

Sluk for komfuret.

Have en god uge.

English:
You know over the years you sometime forget about the things you used to make earlier, because to want to try other and new things. This is also what happend to my chickpea dish. I call this recipe with the use of lots and lots garam masala my own invention. In the beginning I used this as curry dish with naan and later as snack. After long time I am starting to make my garam masala Chaana  Chaat again, this time as side dish and with less onions and tomatoes but the same dose of spices.

for 4-5 persons
Ingredients:

440 gr boiled chickpeas
350 gr boiled  potatoes, diced. They should not to soft but have a bite left.
2 medium sized tomatoes or 6-8 Cherry tomatoes,  cut in thin slices
2 medium sized onion , also cut in thin slices.
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp red chili powder
1 tsp salt or after taste.
2-3 tbsp garam masala, I used 3.
1 tsp chaat masala, can be bought in pakistani food shops. (optional)
juice of one whole lemon
4-5 green chili , chopped finelly
2 tbsp coarsly chopped  fresh coriander leafs.
2 tbs oil.

1. Heat the oil on a deep pan or pot, add the cumin seed and when they start to crack add fresh chili, stir and fry for 1 minut. Add chickepeas, red chili powder, salt and fry for 2-3 minuts more on hight heat while stirring.
2. Add the onions , potatoes and garam masala and keep frying on high heat for 5 minuts. Check to see if the potatoes are cooked through.
3. Add lemon juice and mix well. Turn of the heat, add tomatoes and coriander leafs. Cover the pot/pan with a lid and let the pot stay on the stove. The tomatoes will get soft from the heat from the chick peas.
Sprinkle with chaat masala before servering if useing chaat masalah.

This chickpea chaat can be used as salad, snack, starter or side dish to meat.
Enjoy and have a great week
